Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Dr Sasmit Patra today reiterated the demand for building of Odisha Cultural Centre and Library in Delhi. Through a Special Mention in Rajya Sabha, Sasmit raised the issue of allotment of land.
In his letter, he elaborates the rich culture and tradition of Odisha. Sasmit also points out that Odissi dance has earned love from all over the world. Odia language is one of the six classical languages of India. Also, Odia cuisine, textiles, handloom and handicraft have global appreciation. Sasmit argues that in this scenario having a separate building for showcasing Odisha and its heritage will be a huge attraction for international and domestic tourists.
He mentions that back on December 7, 209, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written a letter to Union Minister of Housing and Urban Development for allotment of suitable land in Delhi for the purposes of establishment of “Odisha Cultural Centre and Library”. Nine months have passed but the Government of India is yet to decide on land, says Sasmit.
He requested the Centre to expedite the process of land allotment.
