Bhubaneswar: The Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance on Thursday carried out raids at two sawmills on outskirts of the city. In the joint raid along with local police, the sleuths stumbled on illegally felled timber worth Rs 26 lakh.
The sawmills, located in Goruhatapadia and Denga villages under Balipatna police limits were operating illegally, the Vigilance said. Apart from the timber logs, the agency personnel seized sawmill equipment and one tractor from the premises.
The Vigilance has registered a case and initiated a probe against operators of the sawmills, reports stated.
