Bhubaneswar: In the wake of a rise in Covid-19 cases in Odisha, the State government has directed to conduct Government hospitals to conduct mock drills to review emergency preparedness.
After government directives, the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has stepped up its preparedness to tackle any situation (rising number of Covid patients.)
SCB MCH’s Registrar Dr Abinash Rout said that the institution is all prepared to deal with Covid patients. There is a dedicated Covid hospital functioning on the premises of SCB MCH which has 20 beds with 3 ICU beds.
A 24-hour fever clinic has been opened, he added. Around 1,500 samples are tested on regular basis, but the positives are less in number, Dr Rout said.
Currently, one patient is undergoing treatment at the SCB and his health condition is stable. He is also doing fine, Rout said. “There are doctors, nurses and paramedics working in the covid ward. The number of staff will be increased if the number of patients goes up, he added.
