Mayurbhanj: In a bizarre incident, the authorities of a school in Kuradika village of Saitpur panchayat under Baishinga police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district locked a Class III student of Government Upper Primary School under Betnoti block inside the school and left for their homes. The child was rescued several hours later by local villagers in a state of trauma and admitted to a local medical facility.
The child’s parents have lodged a complaint with the Beshinga police for the torture suffered by the child.
According to reports, Krushnachandra Mohanty, the 8-year-old son of Basant Mohanty, fell down and sustained injuries on Tuesday. His friends picked up an unconscious Krushnachandra and moved him to a vacant classroom allowing him to recover. However, everyone forgot about the boy and left for home when the school got over at 4.10 pm.
When Krushnachandra did not return home, his parents got worried and launched a search for him. They even contacted the school headmaster Chintamani Mohanty to know about his whereabouts. However, the headmaster reportedly told them nonchalantly that Krushnachandra had left for home with other students after school got over.
When the boy regained consciousness several hours later, he came out of the classroom through the window and sat crying near the locked school gate. Some villagers noticed Krushnachandra and rescued him.
Seeing his condition, they rushed him to the Betnoi Community Health Center and informed his father about the incident. The student has recovered from the injuries and trauma, while his father Basant Mohanty has lodged a complaint with Beshinga police against the school authorities.
