Bhubaneswar: A cook of a primary school, who had sustained severe burn injuries after her saree caught fire while cooking on the school premises at Hatibandha village under Anandapur block in Keonjhar district, died today.

According to reports, the cook, identified as Tapoi Pradhan (45), passed away while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

On November 27, Tapoi was preparing lunch for school students as part of the mid-day meal (MDM) scheme when her saree caught fire. Other cooks had gone to the village market to buy groceries during the mishap. However, school students quickly responded by pouring water on her.
