School Girl Dies Of Snakebite In Ganjam

Bhanjanagar: In a tragic incident, a girl student studying in class I in a residential school in the Darpingia block of Ganjam district succumbed to snakebite on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Ridhi Pradhan.

According to reports, on Sunday night while Ridhi, a class-I student was sleeping in the school’s hostel along with other students was bitten by a common krait. As she cried in pain other students woke up from their sleep and killed the snake.

The staff of the hostel rushed Ridhi to the Sub Divisional Hospital here and informed her father Gobarsingh Pradhan. Ridhi’s family members also reached the hospital.

However, while undergoing treatment Ridhi succumbed to the snake bite. At around 6.00 AM she was pronounced dead by the doctors. Following the announcement of Ridhi’s death, a pall of gloom descended on the hospital.
