Bhubaneswar: Most schools in Odisha reopened on Wednesday after an extended summer vacation owing to the heat wave conditions prevailing across the state.
However, the district administrations of Sambalpur and Jharsuguda in western Odisha have deferred the resumption of classes in schools by a day as the heatwave continues to disrupt normal life there. Therefore, schools in three districts – Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bolangir will reopen on June 22 and will have morning classes till June 24.
Schools in four other districts – Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Nuapada, will reopen on June 23 and classes will be held during the morning hours from 6.30 am up to 10 am for the first two days.
It is worth mentioning here that the state government had asked district Collectors of these seven districts to extend the summer vacations further or switch to morning classes keeping in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions in the region.
