Jajpur: All schools in Jajpur town will remain closed on February 3 as President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Biraja temple and offer prayers, according to a notification issued by the District Education Officer (DEO).
All schools in the municipal area and surrounding towns will remain closed, following the District Collector’s directive. The Block Education Officer (BEO) announced the holiday.
President Murmu is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar today and will spend the night here. She will then head to Jajpur on Thursday, where she will offer prayers at the Maa Birja temple and perform pindadan for her ancestors. She will spend over one and half hours at the temple before heading to Balasore. In Balasore, she is slated to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University and discuss with graduating students.
Later that evening, President Murmu will reach Puri and stay overnight. On February 4, she will be welcomed at the Shree Jagannath Temple’s Singhadwara by Gajapati Maharaja and officials. After praying to Lord Jagannath, she will perform Pinda Daan at Swetaganga. Same day, she will head to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj, addressing a public gathering and inaugurating development projects.
Next day, she will visit Rairangpur’s Jagannath Temple, then head to Similipal Tiger Reserve via Jashipur, staying overnight. The President will hold interactions with tribal women and youth from the Similipal region, focusing on community engagement and inclusive development.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Bhubaneswar, with traffic restrictions imposed on routes the President will be taking.
