Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of heavy rainfall, the Mayurbhanj district administration has announced that all schools, including private institutions, will remain closed on Saturday.

The decision came in response to a forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), predicting severe weather conditions.

The District Education Officer (DEO) confirmed that the district collector has ordered the closure of all schools on September 14 due to the expected heavy rains.

“As per the instructions from the Collector, Mayurbhanj, all types of schools, including private ones, will be closed on September 14 due to the heavy rain forecast and alert warning,” read the official message.

The IMD has issued a red alert for the district, warning of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) and the possibility of extremely heavy falls exceeding 20 cm. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in isolated areas of Mayurbhanj on Saturday.
