Bhubaneswar: With heat wave sweeping across Odisha, the mercury today crossed 46 degrees Celsius at Baripada making it the hottest town of the State.
As many as 15 weather stations recorded above 44 degrees C temperature. Baripada turned into a frying pan at 46.4 degrees C temperature while Balasore remained in the second position with 46 degrees C. State Capital Bhubaneswar witnessed 45.4 degrees C.
As many as 29 towns recorded 42 or above.

Bhubaneswar crossed 45 degrees Celsius for the first time this season.
The IMD has urged people not to come out of their houses between 11 am to 3 pm as hot and intense humid condition prevails in most parts of the state.
The IMD said that Bhubaneswar was followed by Angul which recorded 44.7 degrees Celsius. Talcher, Dhenkanal, Jajpur reported 44.5 degrees Celsius each.
Boudh sizzled at 44.3 while Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Kendrapara witnessed 44.2 degrees C each.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said that due to prevailing northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is likely to further increase during the next 24 hours.
