Scuffle Between Cops & Congress Protesters Before Cuttack Municipal Corporation Office

**Cuttack: ** Scuffle erupted between police personnel and Congress protesters in front of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) office here in the city today when the agitators tried to barge into the CMC campus. They were protesting against the allegedly financial irregularities in CMC and the water-logging issues in this millennium-cum-old capital city of Odisha.

While the large posse of police force stood guard and had cordoned off the CMC campus with barbed wire fence, the agitated Congress workers, including senior women activists, were seen throwing plastic chairs on to the police personnel.

The agitation before the CMC was led by Cuttack City District Congress Committee president Mohammed Moquim.

While addressing the Congress protestors before submitting memorandum, Moquim warned that they would not allow any BJD-ruled Odisha Government ministers to enter Cuttack city nor will allow to observe Self Governance Day by CMC on August 31.

He alleged that the CMC is neck-deep in financial irregularities and has utterly failed in tackling the nagging problem of water-logging in the city.

Taking potshot at the incumbent CMC Commissioner, Moquim demanded immediate removal of the CMC Commissioner or else they will further intensify their stir and lay siege to the CMC on August 31 and debar it from observing Self Governance Day.
