Cuttack: Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed around Maa Bhattarika temple in view of the heavy flow of water in the Mahanadi river in Odisha’s Cuttack district during the last few days. The prohibitory order was issued as flood water entered the temple on Wednesday and the idol of the deity was shifted to a safe place by the servitors.
However, the rituals of the deities are being performed properly in a safe location.
Meanwhile, the local administration has prohibited people from entering the river which is flowing to the brim. The IIC of Baramba Police Station has been directed to maintain law and order to prevent any breach of peace.
As the water level in the Mahanadi river continues to rise due to the incessant rainfall in the lower areas of Hirakud dam, about 8 lakh cusecs of flood water will be released into the Mahandi river by 12.00 noon today via the Mundali barrage in Cuttack.
