Bhubaneswar: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC will be imposed in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar during the observance of the night curfew, said Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi on Saturday.
The night curfew announced by the State government would come into force from today 9 PM till 5 AM the next day until further orders. Special arrangements have been made for whole night patrolling, mobile patrolling by police officials, barricading, road blocking, etc.
Priyadarshi informed that around 10 platoons of police force will be deployed for strict enforcement of the night curfew restrictions in Cuttack. As per special arrangements, 23 checkpoints will be in place in different parts of the city. Patrolling in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will be intensified.
The Commissionerate Police in an office order on Friday mentioned that the Police Commissioner has promulgated prohibitory orders from 9 PM to 5 AM from April 17 in the limits of Police Commissionerate, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
It was done in accordance with the decision of the State Government to impose night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM from April 17 in all urban areas other than Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts of the state to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 infection,
There will be restriction on movements during the period. However, essential workers exempted specifically will be allowed movement on the production of identity document issued by their respective organization for bonafide official work, the order added.
