Bhubaneswar: Puri Administration has clamped prohibitory orders Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) near the controversial Jaya Hotel of Sakshi Gopal after allegations of serving beef as mutton.
The administration has issued the order within a radius of 1 km from Sakshi Gopal College Chowk, prohibiting gatherings of more than four people in the area.
Police have cordoned off the entire area. Hindu Sena has already warned of protesting in front of Jaya Dhaba.
Earlier, the district administration had sealed the ‘Jaya Hotel’ on NH 216 after allegations surfaced that the hotel was serving beef to customers under the guise of mutton. The hotel, known for its special mutton dishes, attracted hundreds of customers daily.
However, complaints began pouring in that beef was being served instead of mutton, and sometimes, even beef fat was mixed with mutton and cooked. The district administration has sent a meat sample to the State Laboratory at OUAT in Bhubaneswar for examination.
Police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. The hotel assistant, responsible for delivering meat parcels to other hotels, was also beaten up by locals.
