Bhubaneswar: If Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is to be believed, Odisha may get its second Vande Bharat Express soon.
Addressing a gathering at the Puri railway station on the occasion of the flagging-off ceremony of Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express on Thursday, Vaishnav said, “The second Vande Bharat Express train in Odisha is likely to run on the Puri-Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Angul-Rourkela route.”
The minister added that there are plans to introduce a Vande Metro service on the Puri-Bhubaneswar-Cuttack route.
According to Vaishnav, Vande Metro, and Vande Sleeper trains will become operational after the Vande Bharat Express train.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the extension of the train running between Bolangir town and Bichhupali in Bolangir district in a virtual mode. Now, the train will run up to Jharatabhara in Odisha’s Subarnapur district.
