Section 144 Imposed Around Sakhigopal Temple Ahead Of Anla Navami

Puri: The district administration today imposed Section 144 of the CrPC around the Sakhigopal temple ahead of Anla Navami. The restrictions will be in place till November 25, informed Puri Sub-Collector Pradip Kumar Sahoo.

The restrictions have been imposed from Chandanpokhari to Sidhhabakula, i.e. in a radius of 200-metre, for a period of four days starting today. The decision was taken to restrict the congregation in the view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“All rituals will be undertaken by the servitors as per temple regulations sans devotees,” said Puri Sub-Collector.

The world-famous attract footfall in lakhs during the ‘Radha Pada Darshan’. It is believed to lead to moksha or salvation. Radharani’s lotus feet are kept covered throughout the year, but on Anla Navami, one can get a sacred darshan as she wears her clothes in typical Odiyani fashion with a Kachha on. This Kachha is called Kania Kachha. The ritual is conducted on Anla Navami ahead of 5-day Panchuka on holy month Kartik.
