Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance on Wednesday arrested the Section Officer of Agalpur Block on charges of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Vigilance carried out raids on the premises of the official, Prafulla Kumar Sa at three places in Bolangir district.
“One double storeyed building at Gandhinagar pada, one double storeyed building at Hatpadapada, four plots in Bolangir town, 2 two-wheelers, insurance deposits over Rs 3.19 Lakh, bank deposits, gold & silver ornaments and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 1.32 crore were unearthed during the searches,” the Vigilance stated.
“After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sa were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets. The assets constituted 98% of his known sources of income,” the Vigilance added. A case has been booked against him and and his spouse under relevant Sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018.
In course of investigation Sa was arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir. The Court has remanded him to Judicial custody till February 8. Further investigation is on.
