Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on the eve of President Draupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to Odisha from Tuesday. The President will attend seven programmes in Cuttack on Wednesday and a few more in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
After arriving at Bhubaneswar airport by a special flight, Murmu will spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
DCP Bhubaneswar Prateek Singh told the media on Tuesday that separate carcade rehearsals were done on Monday in Cuttack. “We have deployed 12 Additional DCPs, 25 ACPs, 40 Inspectors, 120 ASIs, and 36 platoons of police for the security of the President during her Odisha visit. In addition, we have sought the help of experts to ensure that her programmes are not affected due to rain.
The President will visit Cuttack for the first time after assuming office and will spend the entire day there on Wednesday. She will attend seven events there.
The President will begin her Cuttack visit by praying at Goddess Cuttack Chandi temple followed by a visit to Madhu Museum on the Rakbala College campus. She will then visit Netaji Birthplace Museum and attend the inauguration function of the 75th inauguration ceremony of the Odisha High Court at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. President Murmu will also visit the newly established judicial museum.
The President will attend the annual function of Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital and then participate in the convocation of the National Law University. Briefing the media on the President’s visit, Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University, Professor Ved Kumari on Sunday said, “We are happy to announce that we are celebrating the 10th batch of passing out of our students. We are happy that the President of India has agreed to participate in the convocation.”
On July 27, President Murmu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of Prajapita Brahma Kumari’s Divine Light House at Tamando Dasbatia in Bhubaneswar. She will then attend the public meeting in Balipada.
