Security Beefed Up In Kandhamal For Christmas, 21 Platoon Force Deployed
Phulbani: Christmas festivities are in full swing in Kandhamal district under the cover of tight security. The police have intensified patrolling to ensure peaceful celebration of Christmas and New Year.
The Kandhamal district administration and the police have decided to take strict legal action against any person trying to hamper communal harmony during the Christmas celebrations in the district.
Briefing regarding the security details, Kandhamal SP Prateek Singh said, “We have organized peace committee meeting at each police limits and additional peace committee meeting at district-level to maintain communal harmony at all costs.”
“In addition to district police, 21 platoon of force have been deployed. 25 officers from other districts have been deployed with district officers. 6 24-hours inter-state checkpoints have been set-up to keep road route in check. Keeping in mind of the Naxal activity, 3 platoon force has been specifically assigned to Markama with a DSP to keep an eye on the situation.”
All roads leading to communally volatile areas in the district are under strict vigil of police. The police are checking all vehicles travelling in those areas.
