Bhubaneswar: In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives on April 22, and amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a nationwide Civil Defence Mock Drill scheduled for May 7, 2025. In Odisha, the mock drill will be conducted at 12 key locations.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a formal letter to Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territory Administrators, directing Civil Defence authorities to conduct comprehensive exercises on May 7 across 244 designated Civil Defence Districts nationwide.
This nationwide drill aims to evaluate and enhance the country’s preparedness in responding to potential threats. In Odisha, the exercise will be conducted at 12 key locations, ensuring a thorough assessment of emergency response systems and protocols.
The 12 locations in Odisha where the mock drill will be held include Balasore, Koraput, Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Hirakud, Paradip, Rourkela, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Talcher.
