Koraput: Security forces during a joint combing operation in Ambagadili, Maliguda and Garampani villages have unearthed an explosive dump from the forested area near Garampani village under Baipariguda police limits of Koraput district.
As many as 9 nos. of .303 ball ammunition, 48 nos. of AK47 ammunition, 108 nos. of .22-inch ammunition, 2 nos. of charge clips, 2 packets of liquid explosives, 1.5 kg splinters and 95 nos. of gelatine sticks have been recovered from the dump, according to the police.
Acting on a tip-off on July 31 over the existence of an explosive dump in Baipariguda, Koraput police conducted a joint operation by a team comprising District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the area.
“During combing operation by the team near Ambagadili, Maliguda and Garampani villages, yesterday an explosive dump was found near Garampani village. We have recovered 9 nos. .303 ball ammunition, 48 nos. AK47 ammunition, 108 nos. of .22-inch ammunition, 2 nos. of charge clips, 2 packets of liquid explosives, 1.5 kg splinters and 95 nos. gelatine sticks from the dump,” informed Varun Guntupalli, Koraput SP addressing a presser here today.
