Malkangiri: Security personnel unearthed a major Maoist dump from the forested area near Arlingpada village in Jantri panchayat under Jodambo police jurisdiction in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district on Friday.
The suspected Maoist dump was unearthed during an intensive search and area domination exercise conducted by the Malkangiri Police in the aforementioned area, informed Malkangiri SP, Nitesh Wadhwani.
A huge quantity of arms including 1 SSBL Gun, 1 Country made Rifle, 02 IEDs, welding equipment, battery, motor pump, Maoist literature and other incriminating articles have been recovered from the dump, Wadhwani said. These articles have been seized, he added.
“We are suspecting that these explosives along with other articles belonging to the Maoists cadres of AOBSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in this area. It is to be noted that Malkangiri District has remained incident free this year during Maosit’s Martyr’s Week. It is our solemn resolution to uproot all the Maoist activities in the district,” the SP said.
