Bhubaneswar: President of India Droupadi Murmu is all set to arrive in Bhubaneswar today, kicking off her six-day visit to Odisha.
According to reports, Murmu is scheduled to attend various programmes in five districts, including Puri, Khordha, Balasore, Jajpur, and Mayurbhanj.
According to reports, security has been tightened in Bhubaneswar ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s arrival. The President is expected to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport at 6:40 pm today. A no-fly zone has been declared around Lok Bhawan, which is on high alert.
Around 32 platoons of security forces have been deployed, with 10 platoons assigned to manage traffic along the route. The security team includes 4 DCPs, 5 Additional DCPs, 23 ACPs, 33 Inspectors, and 121 Sub-Inspectors/ASIs. The Special Tactical Unit (STU) and 52 women constables are also part of the security arrangement.
A mock drill was conducted on Sunday evening to test security protocols from the airport to Lok Bhawan and Jharpada Chowk.
It is pertinent to mention that Murmu will reach Bhubaneswar this evening, marking the start of her six-day Odisha tour. Her first major engagement is in Jajpur, where she will offer prayers at the Maa Biraja temple, the district’s presiding deity. On February 3, she will spend over 1.5 hours at the temple before heading to Balasore. In Balasore, she is slated to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University and discuss with graduating students.
Later that evening, President Murmu will reach Puri and stay overnight. On February 4, she will be welcomed at the Shree Jagannath Temple’s Singhadwara by Gajapati Maharaja and officials. After praying to Lord Jagannath, she will perform Pinda Daan at Swetaganga. Same day, she will head to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj, addressing a public gathering and inaugurating development projects.
Next day, she will visit Rairangpur’s Jagannath Temple, then head to Similipal Tiger Reserve via Jashipur, staying overnight. The President will hold interactions with tribal women and youth from the Similipal region, focusing on community engagement and inclusive development.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Bhubaneswar, with traffic restrictions imposed on routes the President will be taking.
