Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, security has been intensified along the coastal stretches of Odisha.
As part of heightened vigilance, joint patrolling was carried out by the Indian Navy and the marine police under Astaranga marine police limits, particularly near the Devi river mouth.
The patrolling teams have been conducting identity checks on fishermen operating in the area and have issued advisories urging them to remain alert. Fishermen have been asked to report any suspicious activity or unidentified individuals immediately to authorities.
“Acting on instructions from the state government and our headquarters, security arrangements have been strengthened in all coastal zones of Odisha. Regular patrolling is being carried out. We are verifying identity documents such as Aadhaar cards, especially in cases involving unfamiliar or suspicious boats,” said an official from the Astaranga Marine Police.
Fishermen have also been briefed on security protocols and urged to cooperate with the police.
“They have been clearly informed to alert us without delay if they notice any suspicious boat or movement,” the official added.
Security forces continue to maintain high alert across key coastal zones as part of preventive measures.
