Dhenkanal: A team of police from Dhenkanal today arrested a self-styled Godman from his Ashram at Sompada under Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district in connection with the abduction of a young woman.
The godman has been identified as Kaibalya Jani while the victim is a resident of Bhapur area in Dhenkanal police.
According to reports, the father of the woman lodged a complaint at Bhapur police outpost on October 7 alleging abduction of his daughter. A police team led by Dhenkanal SDPO today raided the Ashram in Tigiria with the help of local police while Jani was busy performing a special puja on the occasion of Dussehra.
Police questioned him regarding the incident. However, he failed to give a satisfactory answer following which he was picked up.
During the raid, police found sexually stimulating tablets and other objectionable articles from his car. Some intimate photos of Jani with the young woman were also found, which show Jani kissing and hugging the woman.
Police are investigating the incident after seizing the car and other materials.
