Subarnapur: A self-styled occult healer allegedly misbehaved with a minor girl on the pretext of curing her through occult rituals, prompting a police investigation in Subarnapur district.
According to a complaint lodged at Rampur police station by the victim’s mother, the family had approached a local man who claimed to possess supernatural powers to cure the girl of an unspecified problem. The accused reportedly performed certain rituals on the first day and assured the family that the issue would be resolved.
The following day, the man allegedly told the family that he would visit the girl’s house in the evening to conduct further rituals. However, the complaint states that he instead arrived during the daytime when no other family members were present at home.
It is alleged that the man shut the door and remained inside the house alone with the minor for some time. This unusual behaviour raised suspicion among neighbours, who later alerted the girl’s family.
Based on the information received and the circumstances surrounding the incident, the victim’s mother approached the Rampur police station and lodged a formal complaint, accusing the man of misbehaving with her daughter under the guise of performing occult practices.
Police officials said the matter has been taken seriously and an investigation has been initiated. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe, they added.
