Bhubaneswar: In a heart-warming display of kindness, the parents of 12-year-old Minati, who tragically died after being hit by a bus in Bhubaneswar, donated her eyes to help others see.

Despite their grief, they consented to the donation after the post-mortem at Capital Hospital. The selfless act drew widespread applause.

Minati was killed when a ‘Mo Bus’ struck her bicycle on the Patia-Nandankanan road.

The accident took place while Minati was returning to home from a nearby shop after purchasing biscuits.

Local people blocked the road for more than two hour to protest against the accident. The police rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesters.

Irate locals demanded the construction of rumble strips so that vehicles could cross the junction carefully. They also demanded adequate compensation for the kin of the victim.
