Semiliguda (Koraput): Police have cracked a dacoity case reported earlier this week near Banguruguda Chhaka under Semiliguda police limits, arresting three persons and apprehending two minors in connection with the crime.
Police have recovered a country-made pistol, cash, a stolen mobile phone, and a motorcycle used in the offence from their possession.
The case was registered at Semiliguda police station on September 17 under Section 310(2) of the BNS read with Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act, following a complaint lodged by Madhusudan Mohanty, a liquor shop salesman from Ganjam district.
Mohanty had reported that on the evening of 15 September, while travelling near Banguruguda Chhaka on the Bharatmala Road, he was waylaid by five unidentified assailants who robbed him of ₹15,000 in cash and a mobile phone at gunpoint.
Acting on specific intelligence, police arrested three accused, identified as Kuna Banka of Gangarajpur, Amar Khosla alias Rohit Khosla of Harijan Sahi, and Akash Kuldip of Dambaguda, while two juveniles were also detained for their involvement.
During the operation, police seized a country-made pistol resembling a 9 mm weapon with an empty magazine, a motorcycle that was used in the crime, the stolen Vivo V-72 mobile phone, and ₹9,600 in cash.
The arrested accused were produced before court on Saturday, while further investigation into the case is continuing.
