Sundergarh: Senior Congress leader and former Talasara MLA Dr Prafulla Majhi has resigned from the primary membership of the grand old party.
In a letter to All India Congress Committee in-charge, Sonia Gandhi, Majhi stated that he felt neglected and humiliated in the party.
“There is no congenial atmosphere to serve the people at large,” he stated in the letter, a copy of which was marked to Congress’ Odisha in-charge Dr Chelakumar and Pradesh Congress president Niranjan Patnaik.
According to Majhi, the State party leadership had promised him a Lok Sabha ticket in the previous general election. “I was not given a ticket nor was told why my candidature was ignored. This was humiliating,” said Majhi.
Following the development State Congress expelled Majhi from the party to which he reacted saying that he has ‘already resigned so there is no point in expulsion’.
On the other hand, Dr Majhi is all set to join the BJD. Speaking to media persons, the former MLA said, “We are very happy with the form of governance and style of working of our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.”
I am not joining the BJD with any intent of a post or position. The intent is to serve people to the optimum level. Whatever post or responsibility the party considers just will be acceptable.”
