Bhubaneswar: In view of the impending floods in the State, the Water Resources Department has deputed senior engineers to eight districts to supervise the overall flood situation.
While Chinmoy Ranjan Rout, Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation has been deputed to Puri district, Bijay Kumar Samal, Chief Engineer Rengali Right Irrigation Project has been deputed to Jagatsinghpur district, Baleswar Nath Sahoo Chief Engineer Drainage has been deputed to Cuttack district, Purna Chandra Rath Additional Chief Engineer Eastern Circle Cuttack has been deputed to Kendrapada district, Dhaneswar Samal, Additional Chief Engineer Eastern Circle II Chandikhol has been deputed for Jajpur and Bhadrak districts and Bighnaraj Purohit Additional Chief Engineer Central Irrigation Circle Bhubaneswar has been deputed for Khordha and Nayagarh districts, said an order issued by the Office of the Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Department.
These officers have been directed to move to the concerned districts by the afternoon of August 14.
They have been asked to visit weak and vulnerable points, supervise embankments and coordinate with the field level officers as well as district administration during the passage of flood so that any emergency situation can be taken care of forthwith.
