Bhubaneswar: A Sensory Park for differently-abled children, said to be the first of its kind in the country, has been developed over 1368 Sqm. area with a project cost of Rs. 0.99 Crore under Smart City Project at Sahidnagar (Ward No-30) area in Bhubaneswar.
The Park was inaugurated by Minister of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities (SSEPD) Department, Ashok Chandra Panda, on Tuesday.
The design of the Park includes infrastructure like pathways, drinking water taps, and play equipment for children with special needs. There are shrubs/trees planted in a disciplined manner in the park, adhering to the accessibility guidelines and safety of the users.
Key features of the Sensory Park include provision for children with special needs, play instruments, ramps, and facilities like sand pebbles, Reflex O-path, Braille wall, and sound instruments for visually challenged children.
Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, and Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, among others, also attended the programme.
