Bhubaneswar: Two separate incidents of burglary occurred across Odisha on Thursday, with the burglars making off with valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
The first incident took place at the Jagannath Temple in Baliapal of Balasore District, where burglars broke the lock of the temple’s main gate and looted the donation box (hundi) and other items late last night.
According to reports, the priest arrived at the temple this morning and found the gates open. Upon inspection, he discovered that the temple’s donation box (hundi) had been looted.
He immediately informed the Baliapal Police Station and upon receiving the information, the police reached the scene and initiated an investigation.
In another incident, burglars targeted a house in the Nischintakoili area of Gopapur village in Cuttack District, where burglars looted over 5 lakh rupees worth of gold and cash late last night.
The victim, Satyajeet Behera, works outside the state.
According to reports, Satyajeet’s mother was locking the house before heading to a relative’s house last night when burglars entered through the back door. They broke open the almirahs and stole gold and cash.
When Satyajeet’s mother returned this morning, she found the almirahs broken and the valuables missing.
She immediately informed the police and upon receiving the information, Nischintakoili Police reached the scene and began their investigation.
