Sambalpur: The Sambalpur Nagarika Kriyanusthana Committee is observing a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh in the district over five-point charter of demands including a separate Koshal state, and establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Sambalpur.
The other demands are inclusion of Sambalpuri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, to stop introduction of electric prepaid meters and installation of water meters in Sambalpur.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while vehicular movement was affected due to the bandh. Emergency services, educational institutions and vehicles carrying examinees have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh.
