**New Delhi/Bhubaneswar:** Jaga, one of the separated conjoined twins of Kandhamal stepped out of the AIIMS New Delhi premises for the first time nearly one year after the successful cranial separation surgery.
A picture of Jaga visiting India Gate with his parents has gone viral on social media. He is seen walking while holding his mother’s hand.
Jaga’s twin brother Kalia is also recovering fast at AIIMS. The process of giving semi-liquid food through a feeding tube up his nose has stopped and he has started eating through his mouth.
Born to Bhuan Kanhar and Puspanjali Kanhar of Milipada in Kandhamal district, Jaga-Kalia had been separated on October 25 last year after a marathon surgery which lasted around 11 hours at AIIMS, New Delhi.
A special team comprising 20 surgeons including four Odia doctors and 10 Anesthesiologists led by AK Mahapatra and other paramedical staff successfully conducted the cranial separation surgery. The twins are still under the supervision of a team of doctors.
