Sundergarh: A day after the Patna-Bilaspur Weekly Superfast Express crossed Rajgangpur railway station without stopping, South Eastern Railway authorities have placed the station master under suspension. The Station Master Santosh Mishra will face an inquiry over alleged dereliction of duty.
Incorrect signalling led to the incident. As the train did not halt at Rajgangpur station, passengers who were scheduled to alight and those who were to embark the train faced inconvenience.
The Patna-Bilaspur train was to stop at Rajgangpur at 2:00 pm on platform number one. However, the station master committed an error and asked the train to pass through platform number two. Hence, the train did not stop at the station, said sources.
The train halted at Garposh station. Those stranded at Rajgangpur were sent to Garposh by the Ispat Express. Passengers who had to get down at Rajgangpur were asked to disembark at Sambalpur station. They were brought back by the Banaras Express, sources added.
