Puri: A scuffle broke out inside the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Wednesday evening when two servitors reportedly clashed over the distribution of devotees’ offerings. The incident occurred near the Jayvijay Dwar, briefly disrupting the temple’s proceedings.
The servitors involved have been identified as Narayan Panda and Raja Khuntia. The altercation reportedly began when devotees were presenting their dakshina (offerings) on a thali, leading to a heated exchange between the two. During the incident, Narayan Panda sustained injuries after being attacked by Raja.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Singhadwar police station, and police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Temple authorities have expressed concern over the disturbance and said strict action will be taken to maintain discipline and preserve the sanctity of the shrine.
