Servitors, Employees Of Puri Jagannath Temple Test Positive For Covid-19

Puri: Seven sevayats (servitors) of Puri Shree Jagannath Temple and three of their family members and 13 employees of the temple belonging to different categories have tested positive for Covid-19 till yesterday, informed Development Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ajay Kumar Jena.

Jena said out of the temple employees afflicted with Coronavirus, 8 work at the shoe stand, one is a member of the Jagannath Temple Police (JTP), one is a gardener and three are employees of the main office.

He said that a total of 1,055 doses of Covid-19 vaccine has been administered at the Covid Vaccination Centre exclusively for the servitors and their family members established at the  Pratihari Nijog conference hall since 17th of last month.

Out of those, 1048 are first doses and 07 are second doses, he added.

Jena said an exclusive testing centre to conduct antigen and RT-PCR tests has been set up at Utkal Hindi Vidyapeeth on Grand Road.

In addition to the above homoeopathy medical camp has been organised since yesterday and around 150 families have availed medicines and treatment, he added.

He informed that those who have tested positive have been advised to isolate themselves and their contact tracing is underway.
