Bhubaneswar: Amidst the raging controversy over the construction work of Srimandir Parikrama Project or Puri Heritage Corridor Project, representatives of sevayats (servitors of Shree Jagannath Temple) have thrown their weight behind the State government.
A bunch of sevayats of the Shree Jagannath Temple today filed a writ petition in the Orissa High Court seeking direction to the State government and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for speedy completion of the Srimandir Parikrama Project.
Sevayats Raghunath Gochhikar, Hazuri Krushna Chandra Khuntia, Binayak Das Mohapatra, Hare Krushna Khuntia, Bata Mudra and others have prayed the High Court for early completion of all work pertaining to public amenities especially meant for sevayats and devotees.
They have alleged that a handful of persons and political parties have been creating obstacles in the development work which is against public interest and the interest of sevayats.
The petitioners have prayed for the High Court’s intervention to expedite the development work. In addition to that, they have petitioned it to direct the ASI to fully cooperate with the State government in keeping with the Supreme Court’s orders.
Petitioners have cited that a handful of persons through false propaganda with help of a few politicians are trying to create obstacles in the progress of the project which is unacceptable. Therefore, they have sought direction to the State government for expediting the project work.
