Cuttack: Police arrested seven persons who are relatives of matric examinees for providing answer materials to students during the science exam at an examination centre under Maniabandha police station in Cuttack district.
The arrested individuals have been forwarded to court, Maniabandh police station officer Priya Ranjan Nayak said. The police action comes after reports of widespread cheating activities at the examination centre in previous exams were aired on several news channels.
The arrests were made after the police and the Baramba Education Department took action to prevent cheating. The incident occurred on the fourth day of the Class 10 exams in Odisha, which have been largely smooth, except for a minor glitch in the Science subject question paper.
According to BSE, A short question worth 4 marks was not printed in some of the Set-C question papers. The exam-conducting committee has taken note of the issue and will examine it further. Srikant Tarai, a board official, assured that the committee would ensure that no student suffers due to the glitch.
The Board reported that 11 cases of malpractice were detected on the fourth day of the exams.
