Bhubaneswar: Odisha Forest Department personnel on Sunday arrested seven poachers and seized two motorbikes, four bicycles, and a substantial quantity of wildlife meat from the Dartota area under the Birashal Forest Section of the Kamashyanagar Eastern Range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, acting on the directives of the Kamakshyanagar East Range Officer, the Forest Department personnel raided the Dartota area and seized the booty from the poachers who had been hunting wild animals in the forest for a long time.
The arrested accused include Sagar Munda, Samu Munda of Dartota village under Balikuma panchayat, Sandeep Sardar, Jagar Sardar, Suna Purti, Lakhar Munda, and Sham Sardar of Bargji village. The accused were nabbed by the Forest Department staff while they were transporting the meat of wild animals from the vast protected forest.
Carcasses of 12 wild animals were seized from them.
