Bhubaneswar: A seven-year-old Tibetan girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Chandragiri outpost area under Mohana police station limits in Gajapati district.
According to reports, the incident occurred when family members were away from home. The accused, who is a minor Odia boy, allegedly committed the act.
Upon discovering the incident, the girl’s family lodged a written complaint at the Mohana police station. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and detained the minor accused for questioning.
Meanwhile, the victim has undergone medical examination.
Police stated that after the medical procedure, the accused will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (Juvenile Court) as per legal provisions, given his minor status. The matter is under active investigation, and further details are awaited.
It is pertinent to mention that the Tibetan community in Chandragiri has been living in the area since 1963, after being resettled there by the Indian and Odisha governments following their displacement from Tibet.
