Raighar (Nabarangpur): Several BJP workers, policemen, Umerkote MLA Nityananda Gond, BJP Yuva Morcha State unit treasurer Santosh Mohapatra among others on Friday were injured after being attacked by bees during a rally organised by the saffron party here.

One Bikram Majhi of Khidingimal village of Munibeda panchayat who was critically injured in the incident has been hospitalised.

The distressing incident has become the talk of the town.

According to reports, the BJP today organised a rally to protest against the various failures of the BJD government in the State.

BJP workers in hundreds marched in a rally from the new bus stand here at around 2.00 PM to the block office through the main market.

The rally was led by Umerkote MLA Nityananda Gond and BJP Yuva Morcha State unit treasurer Santosh Mohapatra.

The BJP had planned to gherao the block office to highlight the failures of the BJD government in the state.

While the BJP leaders were addressing party workers and supporters before the gherao programme, all of a sudden a swarm of bees attacked the people in the gathering.

Following the attack by the bees people ran helter-skelter to save themselves from the stinging bees leaving the meeting halfway through.
