Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms in several districts of Odisha today.
The IMD bulletin read, “Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts on Wednesday.”
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely to occur at a few places in the interior districts of Odisha and at one or two places in coastal Odisha, the weather office added.
No major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected during the next 4-5 days.
Earlier, the IMD had forecast thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and rain in various parts of Odisha till April 28 and advised precaution.
