Several Parts Of Odisha Likely To Experience Thunderstorm Activity During Next 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and also heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal during the next 24 hours.

Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Kandhamal,
Rayagada, Boudh and Ganjam during the same period, the IMD added.

The weather agency has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for the aforementioned districts.

Besides, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, north coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the IMD has said that the sky will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of the development of thunder/lightning.
