Bhubaneswar: The severe cyclonic storm “Hamoon” over Northeast Bay of Bengal moved nearly northeastwards with a speed of 17 kmph during past six hours, weakened into a cyclonic storm and crossed Bangladesh coast to the south of Chittagong near latitude 21.9°N and longitude 91.9°E between 0130 hours IST & 0230 hours IST October 25 as a cyclonic storm with wind speed of 75-85 kmph gusting to 95 kmph.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it lay centered at 0230 hours IST of October 25 over coastal Bangladesh near latitude 22.0°N and longitude 92.0°E, about 180 km east of Khepupara and 40 km south-southeast of Chittagong in Bangladesh.
The cyclonic storm is very likely to move northeastwards and weaken into a deep depression during the next six hours and further into a depression during the subsequent six hours.
The cyclonic storm will have no impact in Odisha, although a few northern coastal areas may receive light to moderate rainfall today.
