Bhubaneswar: With temperature to increase above normal by two to three degrees, severe heat wave conditions is going to hit Western Odisha within the next two to three days, informed Director of Regional Meteorological Centre, HR Biswas, on Friday.
As the normal temperature in interior parts of Western Odisha is presently around 40 degree Celsius, it is going to soar up to 44 degree Celsius, he added.
Biswas further informed that temperature recorded at some other stations was around 42 degree Celsius and is expected to reach 44 degree Celsius but there are no chances of heat wave as normal temperature is already high.
While temperature will also increase two to three degrees above normal in Coastal Odisha, thunderstorm activity is also likely in next 24 hours at Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak, he added.
Highest temperature of 43.2 degree was recorded in Sonepur in the last 24 hours. While Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 37.8 degree Celsius it may reach 39 degrees today and soar up to 40 degrees in a day or two, said Biswas.
