Bhubaneswar: Severe heatwave has gripped several parts of Odisha, with Jharsuguda breaking its all-time record for April with a scorching temperature of 46.2 degrees Celsius. This record-breaking temperature surpasses the previous high of 46.1°C recorded on April 20, 2010, since 1953.
Other districts in Odisha have also reported high temperatures, with Hirakud recording 44.7°C, Sambalpur 44.6°C, Rourkela 42.8°C, Kendujhar 39.9°C, Chandbali 38.7°C, Bhubaneswar 36.7°C, and Baleswar 35.5°C. The heatwave conditions are expected to continue, with the weather department closely monitoring the situation.
The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar had predicted that maximum day temprature is likely to rise by 2-4 degrees C during next three days. Maximum temperature is likely to hover above 43 degrees C in Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, and Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Nuapada district.
