Balasore: Barely a week into the recovery of a headless body from Khannagar area of Sadar police limits in Balasore district, the severed head of the body was recovered from Bhandaripokhari area of Bhadrak district. A married couple have been arrested in this connection.
Reportedly, Sridhar Dalbehera, Fakir Nayak and his wife Sumitra Nayak of Nayagarh district were working in the Basudha Scheme project in Khannagar area of Balasore for the past few months.
Meanwhile, a love affair developed between Sridhar and Sumitra. The relationship went so far that both decided to stay with each other. On the other hand, when her husband Fakir found out about their love affair, he went away to his village.
On November 5, Sumitra was severely beaten by Sridhar. The next day i.e. on November 6, when Sridhar was sleeping, Sumitra severed his head with an axe and informed her husband Fakir over the phone.
On hearing this, husband Fakir fled straight from Nayagarh to Balasore on a bike. Both the husband and wife threw Sridhar’s headless body in an open area and the husband took the severed head and threw it near a under construction bridge.
On November 12, when Sridhar’s headless body was found, Sadar Police registered a case and intiated a probe. After the investigation, police arrested Sumitra from Cuttack and her husband Fakir from Nayagarh.
