Cuttack: Badambadi police today busted a sex racket operating from a rented house in a lane behind the Nishamani Cinema Hall in Badambadi locality of the city.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a house in lane no. 2 of Surya Vihar behind Nishamani Cinema Hall leading to the rescue of five sex workers. Police have apprehended a pimp and a client during the raid.
“IIC Badambadi today received information of some girls and boys involved in illegal sex activities. On that basis IIC with other police staff verified the spot. Police found 5 girls, a pimp and a customer at the place,” informed Amarendra Panda, ACP (Sub Division VI) speaking to reporters here.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that they were involved in illegal sex activities, Panda added.
The ACP said that the pimp had taken the house on rent for around eight months.
Further investigation in the matter is underway, he added.
