Malkangiri: An inter-state prostitution racket operating from a house at Kumutuguda in Malkangiri district was busted with the arrested of three persons including the lady kingpin on Wednesday.
Reportedly, the house was under police scanner after receiving tip-off that a prostitution racket is running there. Several people visited the house daily and two-wheelers and four-wheelers could be found parked in front of it.
During a raid led by Malkangiri IIC Rigan Kindo, three persons Deepak Gandhi, Rakesh Bala of Sukma in Chhattisgarh and the lady kingpin Sharmila Chakrabarty were arrested. Several customers fled during the raid. Several girls and women were rescued.
Police also seized three mobile phones, Rs 10,500 cash, several condoms and other articles from the house. Sources said Sharmila has a vast network of customers.
